History Class Trips to Atlanta, Georgia

Trip planners interested in planning a history class trip should consider Atlanta, Georgia as their destination. At GO Educational Tours, we believe students greatly benefit from a hands-on learning approach. Under the subject of history, museums are a great place to offer this approach. When planning a history class trip to Atlanta, consider the following museums on your itinerary!

  • The National Center for Civil and Human Rights

  • Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum

  • Delta Flight Museum

The National Center for Civil and Human Rights

On your next history class trip, consider visiting The National Center for Civil and Human Rights museum in Atlanta, Georgia. This museum is known for one of the top museums dedicated to the worldwide human rights movement. The museum opened to the public on June 23, 2004.

At the museum, students on class trips experience the center more than a museum. The museum offers many exhibits, currently in October 2020, including: The American Civil Rights Movement, The Global Human Rights Movement, Dignity Museum, and The Morehouse College Martin Luther King, Jr. Collection.

Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum

When students visit the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum, they are able to learn more about U.S. President Jimmy Carter, his family including his Administration.

The museum is surrounded by 35 acres of ponds, animals and open fields. The museum is also apart of the presidential library system connected to the National Archives. At the museum, groups may schedule self guided or docent-guided student tours.

If a trip organizer for a history class trip chooses to take a docent- guided student tour, they should expect a 60-90 minute tour. This tour is for grades 1-12 and is interactive. Tours may be scheduled as general, or upon request, may emphasize on a groups specific focus.
